Hello, and thanks for visiting my website! Here you’ll find links to my fiction, my academic work, and to the fruits of my latest hobby – photography.
I’m a graduate student working on the history of rocketry in Japan, which is precisely as obscure and potentially pointless as it sounds. But, hey, I like big things that explode, and I’m a huge sci-fi junkie, so this is a pretty sweet way to fill my time.
When I’m not up to my neck in the National Diet Library in Tokyo, I like to read (Cormac McCarthy, Greg Egan, Kelly Link, and Octavia Butler have taken up most of my time this year, but I adore Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, James Tiptree Jr., Salman Rusdhie, Ursula K. LeGuin, and Jhumpa Lahiri, amongst others); watch movies (everything ranging from The Little Mermaid to The Raid); and eat (all the food in the Orient).

Subo was born in London, UK, and has lived in the Soviet Union/Russia, Sri Lanka, Japan, and the United States. When he’s not researching the history of rocketry in Japan at Harvard University, he’s reading good literature, or trying to make it to the few countries within the reach of a poor graduate student. You’ll find his Academia.edu profile here, and his linkedin profile here. Get in touch if you’ve got something nice to say!
